For the love of a Beetle car

Michelle (the owner of the car) had a love for racing and raced her Beetle car. To celebrate her 50th birthday, Michelle’s husband Mark ordered a cake version of the car.

However instead of the original blue it was in, they wanted it to be in NHS blue because Michelle was a nurse.

When they collected the cake, Michelle loved it so much that she didn’t want anyone to eat it on her birthday. She came back to us a few months later to ask if it would still be OK to eat. Sadly it wouldn’t have been - because it was made of delicious cake!

We love creating edible memories - but they are edible. This cake was a few years ago - we now encourage people to think whether the recipient may want to have a keepsake, as well as the memory. A carved cake is great - you do have to cut into it! Sometimes a regular (round or rectangular) cake with some models on top made of edible modelling paste, works just as well visually, and allows all the guests to tuck in, as well as keeping or eating the model on top.
